Special Studies

As a clinical consultant, I performed a variety of specialty examinations on patients. One of the types of examinations that I did was Doppler evaluations of arteries and veins. These exams were done for several reasons, including ruling out arterial narrowing or deep vein clots as causes of leg pain. These exams were done in an outpatient setting and were cost-effective ways of determining if more invasive studies needed to be ordered.

The navigation links to the left take you to QuickTime movies demonstrating some of these procedures. One shows a Doppler survey of the femoral artery and vein, the large vessels in the thigh. Another movie shows the measurement of blood pressure in an ankle.
